Five Nights at Freddy's

My oldest grand daughter is obsessed with Five Nights at Freddy's! Being the over protective person I am, I googled this phrase to see just what exactly she was fixated on! After reading several of the reviews and the Wikipedia description, I was not impressed!

Five Nights at Freddy's is a survival horror video game created by Scott Cawthon. The game takes the players into a fictional pizza restaurant called "Freddy Fazbear's Pizza" (aka Chuck E. Cheese?) Here the player who takes the role of security guard, must defend him/herself from the animatronics who have malfunctioned. Through the use of security cameras, the players locate and avoid the animatronics and try to survive the night shift (midnight to 6 am). There is a history behind the malfunctioning animatronics, in that once upon a time 5 children disappeared and were thought to be be dead and haunting the animatronics. While I am not a fan nor see the appeal of this game, it seems to be popular with the pre and tween aged group -(10 to 14)

Originally a developer of Christian based games, Cawthon received negative publicity from his family friendly game, "Chipper and Sons Lumber Co.," Taking the negative comments and turning them around, he developed a new horror themed game that will keep you up at night.

The video game, books and now an upcoming movie are taking Five NIghts at Freddy's into the next level of popularity.

Are you or your children fans?
